Day 4 - Sunday, July 11, 1999

On the Road to Oxford

 
 
We first ate breakfast and loaded the bus to drive to Oxford, it was very pretty.  Then we changed clothes and performed at All Saints Church.  Catherine Weber 
We had about 2 hours on the bus.  I slept, slept, and slept some more.  Laura Hagen

We arrived at church at about 9:00 am to sing - we wore our sweaters.  It was so cold outside.  Burrrrrrr. . .   Kade Stevens

 Today we had our first performance at a church called All Saints Church.  I thought the Mass was long but didn’t complain.

The church was really pretty.  Wow!  The stained glass window was huge!

We sang Glory Be To The Father and The Lord’s Prayer, they enjoyed it.

We had lunch at Marlowe’s, and got a real English lunch.  I thought it was really good.  Laura Hagen

Then we went to a real English lunch and I ate in the same room as I did 3 years ago.  That brought back some good memories.  Valerie Burton

Holy Trinity Church
 
 
 

 We got to go and perform at the Holy Trinity Chrurch (where Shakespeare is buried in the church).  After the performance, we got to tour  the church, and saw Shakespeare’s grave.  Laura Hagen 
This church has windows that are so pretty - they have so much detail - the light hits the windows just right.  Karissa Torrez

We toured there and where he is buried and the school he attended.  The school is still used as a school today. Jennifer Mitchell

It was really exciting to see all of that and get a little education at the same time. Anyways we got to see his poems, books, bed and all that good stuff. Amanda Fuentes

When we got to his birthplace it was soo cool on how the way his house looked when he was a little boy.  Kade Stevens 
This was one of my favorite parts of this tour. I got a thimble with Romeo and Juliet had carved and painted.  SarahMiller

Ann Hathaway's Cottage

 
 
 The house is really huge!  Her Dad was a farmer and they lived on a farm.  Shakespeare used to come and visit Ane though he was only eighteen and Anne was twenty-six they were deeply in love.  Jennifer Holland 
Did you know that he was 18 and his wife was 26 when they were married?  Karissa Torrez 
She had the most beautiful garden.  It had white, purple, blue, pink, yellow and red flowers everywhere.  Katherine Kuczaj

 

It was neat and the garden was beautiful.  I bought some tea and other stuff.  CatherineWeber 
We saw the dishes she used and the beds her parents slept in.  Laura Hagen 
All of the doorways were short.  So I had to duck under the doorways.

The Trip Back To London
 
 
 

Debi’s group gave a wonderful devotional with singing and everything - the prayer was very inspirational.  Alyssa Harrison

 On our way home we saw lots of different things - we saw a lot of country and a lot of sheep.  Lori Kreger

 

Dinner With Birthday Celebrations
 
 
 

When we got back to London we ate at LaPergula (noodles w/spaghetti sauce) and they brought cake out (just like @ lunch) for Debi and Rachel.  Catherine Weber
We had pasta.  When we were eating the lights went off and girls screamed - actually they   were bringing Debi & Rachel’s birthday cakes.  Samantha Lau
 
  I ate with Mrs. Carter which I enjoyed. Jennifer Mitchell
 After dinner we took double-decker busses back to the hotel.  Lori Kreger
Then go to our rooms and take showers and we talked about the trip and how we like it and everything.  Then we snuggled up in our bed and went to sleep - it had been a hard day for all of us and we needed to get to sleep and get some rest so we all went to sleep. Rachel Tyler
