The Texas Girls' Choir is composed of 5 Choir levels. Each girl enters the Preparatory Choir and then each semester has the opportunity to progress to the next Choir level by audition. All choirs perform and naturally the more advanced choirs perform more often.Touring girls are selected from the Concert choirs. In addition to improving and developing her voice, the program teaches the girls stage presence and some choreography.BELL CHOIR PROGRAMThere are 4 handbell choirs, each with an increased degree of difficulty. Handbell
choir performances are a part of each concert in the annual concert series.

SOLO CLASS PROGRAMAny girl who wishes extra guidance and attention in order to perform solos with the Texas Girls' Choir or at school will benefit from this program. Solo class meets every Saturday after regular choir rehearsal.BIG AND LITTLE SISTER PROGRAMEvery girl entering the choir becomes a "Little Sister" and is assigned to a "Big Sister". This program provides the Preparatory girl with someone she can ask questions and it provides a link between the new girls and the older, more experienced girls. Big and little sisters get to know each other at a "Coke Float Party" held during one of the Saturday rehearsals early each semester.OFFICER AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMEach year during the summer session choir members can run for an office. Officers are elected through a very democratic process. The leadership training workshop features classes in problem solving, parliamentary procedure, and self-confidence building skills. Various local business leaders as well as media personalities teach the classes.MUSIC CLINIC AND CHARM SCHOOLEach fall every member of the Texas Girls' Choir attends an overnight music clinic at the TGC camp. Guest teachers from various community arts and music organizations provide a variety of music and arts instruction.In the spring each girl attends charm school to learn the social graces, including formal dinners, receptions, parties, and such. Classes also include basic modeling, personal appearance, the principles of polite etiquette, and even how to pack a suitcase for tour. |
